Author: Emily Carroll

I loved this graphic novel!  In my opinion, much better and way creepier than Creepshow and the like.  If they made a true-too-the-book movie or tee-VEE miniseries it would be an instant classic.  But let's keep it real--Hollywood would muck it up but good!  Maybe if they made it in another country?

Anyway, the stories are not only great, the art is amazing.  Carroll's graphic storytelling is a mix between Edward Gorey, Roy Lichtenstein, and Francis Bacon--many dark progressions with angles of distress and psychotic bowing to the bursting point.  Good stuff.  Tee-hee.  Both the art and stories have Lovecraftian overtones weaving in and around, also.

When I started it I couldn't put it down.  It's a half-hour read if you linger on the art--which I always do.  You won't find any "tidy" resolutions or positive messages in this work.  However, it is instructive.  If you walk through the woods, sooner or later...
